Celebrity Century in Malta

The 71,000-ton, 1,800-guest Century was the first megaship Celebrity ever launched, way back in 1995. Today she’s the oldest ship in Celebrity’s fleet, but a major refurbishment in 2006 completely updated her look and feel, and she looks fantastic. All in all, she’s a nice combination of contemporary amenities in a package that’s relatively smaller and more intimate than her larger fleetmates.

Public Spaces On Celebrity Century
One of Century’s most popular spaces is her Martini Bar, which looks like a martini itself with its icy blue and white color scheme and subdued lighting. The Michael’s Club piano bar, on the other hand, has the old world styling of a classic men’s club, with high-backed chairs, comfortable couches, bookcase-lined walls, and a menu of cognacs and single-malt Scotch. The Grand Foyer has a clean, modern elegance, befitting a ship that, like the rest of the Celebrity fleet, is outfitted with some remarkable modern art.

On the atrium’s second level, the Cova Cafe offers specialty coffees and pastries. Down the corridor, the Rendezvous Lounge is a large venue for live music and socializing. All the way forward, the two-story Celebrity Theater has long banquette seating and cocktail tables on the main level and balcony seating up above. For dancing and after-dinner cocktails, there’s the dark and clubby Crystal Room lounge on the Entertainment deck and the Hemisphere observation lounge perched near the top of the ship on the Sports deck.

Outdoors, Century offers a low-key pool deck with two central pools and four hot tubs, and a sports deck for basketball and volleyball. The ship’s spa is lovely and modern, with serene treatment rooms, a dedicated space for acupuncture treatments, an aromatherapy steamroom called the Persian Garden, and a cafe serving smoothies and healthy snacks and light meals. A fitness center and a modern and elegant beauty salon are adjacent.

Celebrity Century Grand RestaurantDining On Celebrity Century
At dinnertime, guests can choose from four options. Straddling the Plaza and Promenade decks, the main Grand Restaurant is a beautiful two-deck space with a wide, dramatic staircase and floor-to-ceiling windows facing back over the stern. The specialty Murano Restaurant, named for Venice’s famous glass-blowing island, specializes in elaborate, Old World, multicourse meals, with a dark, intimate ambience; a Continental menu; and featured tableside carving and flambé. The ship’s buffet restaurant, the Island Cafe, serves casual dinners, while right next door is a handsome and popular Sushi restaurant.

Celebrity Century Cabins
Century’s cabins were all redesigned during her 2006 refurbishment, and they shine. Though smallish, the 170-square-foot standard outside cabins and standard balcony cabins have an upscale, boutique-hotel look and a sensible layout, with wood wall paneling, nicely designed storage cabinets with reading lights above the bed’s headboard, and a warm color palate.

ConciergeClass staterooms only run a few square feet larger, but come with plush perks like a pillow menu, welcome champagne, upgraded bedding, and priority access to restaurant and excursion reservation and other onboard events.

The 246-square-foot Sky Suites come with huge 179-square-foot private balconies that are bigger than the balconies on the ship’s top-level, 1,000-square-foot Penthouse Suites. As aboard all other Celebrity ships, guests in all levels of suite get the services of a tuxedo-clad butler.

Ship Information
Celebrity Century received a complete renovation in 2006, including the lengthening of the ship with an extra mid-section (the ship was cut in half and the mid-section welded in). The renovation also included the addition of new accommodations - 314 new private balcony cabins, fourteen new Sky Suites and 174 new Concierge Class balcony cabins.
